Auto modi
The Fimi X8 SE comes with a whole bunch of automatic functions. It automatically follows you around, can land on its own, go ‘home’ by itself and come back to you on demand. All this is done by a built-in sensor using GPS, Glonass and Beidou. Should you lose connection, the drone will always come back to you.
Quite handy when its battery dies or when the drone gets out of sight and loses connection. The drone is equipped with a camera on its bottom side. Combined with a coloured launchpad, this allows you to take off and perform a precision landing. Various video reviews show that the drone doesn’t always land in the middle, but it does get a good score.
First person view
To many people, this is a very cool option. The Fimi X8 SE offers first person view with the remote controller, changing the entire perspective. You could simply see the images live on your smartphone or any other connected screen and then use the control sticks to manoeuvre and get some great shots.
Wide range
Lots of cheap drones have a small range of only a few hundred metres. This cheap Fimi X8 SE lets you fly over large lakes or fields without losing connection.
Even more so, it can cover a distance of 5 kilometres without losing its signal. In that respect, it is quite special, because some $1,500 drones achieve the same or a similar range.
Image quality

Battery life
The 2022 Fimi X8 SE has a battery life of 35 minutes, thanks to its 4,500 mAh battery. While this only differs by a few minutes from some other drones, it’s pretty impressive that this is possible in this price range.
Especially when looking at the much more expensive DJI Mavic 2 Pro, where the flight time is 29-31 minutes.

However, you do need to pay attention to the import tax and VAT for your country. In Europe, you’d pay VAT for packages above 22 Euros, and above 150 Euros you’d pay import duties.
